Hunther came home with us in May 2004. Hunther is titled Schutzhund 2, surveyed KKL1 for
2007-2008, "SG" rated in conformation, and has passed his AD test.  He has "A" normal hips,
an
OFA "good" hip rating, and OFA "normal" elbows. He has received ratings of
"pronounced" hardness and fighting drive in his breed survey. He is a highly driven, alert,
self-confident dog with no gun shyness.

Hunther's highest score in a Schutzhund trial is 94-81-V96 (271 total) for his Schutzhund I.

Hunther has turned out to be quite a challenge.  A series of unfortunate events has resulted
in Hunther having problems getting along with other dogs, outside of the ones he lives with.
An attack by another dog left him wary of strange dogs that surprise him. Dave was fortunate
enough to locate
Ms. Lisa Clifton-Bumpass, a renowned animal behavior specialist who runs
a weekly class for owners of reactive and fearful dogs. With Lisa's guidance and support,
Hunther went from aggressively overreacting to dogs at distances of over 100 feet, to
"reporting in" (the handler shaking hands with the judge, with the dog at the handler's left
side,  at double arms' distance from another dog/handler team) without incident for his BH
test, Schutzhund I trial, Schutzhund II trial, AD test, Conformation Show,  breed survey, and
the USA's Northwest Regional Championship. This last was on a field that Hunther had been
on only four times prior to the trial.

"I will be forever grateful to Lisa for her help with Hunther. Without a doubt, if I had not found
her, I would have listened to people that would have told me to do things that only would
have made his behavior worse. He probably would have been surrendered or might even
have taken that last walk into the vet's office. Thank you Lisa, for saving his life." - Dave Port

Hunther has tremendous ball drive! He will chase a "ball on a rope" toy until I have to stop
him from running to exhaustion. He has learned to be intent and focused  while tracking, and
is absolutely fearless in the protection phase (as you can see in the video, below). For all his
drive and motivation, Hunther is surprisingly easy to live with. He will lay around the house
and not cause trouble. He gets along famously with an adopted Labrador Retriever that is 14
months old, even allowing her to steal a Nylabone brand chew toy right out of his mouth with
only a "Why me?' look on his face!

It has become apparent that Hunther has real competition potential, especially in light of the
fact that a half-brother (Falco vom Wolfsblick) won the 2007 Bundesiegerprufung (German
National Schutzhund Trials).
